There’s a new Facebook tool which allows users to see how vulnerable they were to Russian propaganda during 2016 U.S. election. The tool, found in Facebook’s Help Center, scans past posts in your profile in an attempt to link them to known propaganda Pages, some of which have since been deleted.
Facebook estimates somewhere around 140 million users have viewed Russian propaganda in their Newsfeed, or on Instagram, during 2016 election. These posts/pages mostly focused on partisan talking on issues like gun control, LGBTQ issues, race, and religion.
As reported by Facebook, a large sum of money was invested by the admins of these propaganda pages on facebook ads — roughly about a $100,000.
